The Logan Mirrored Chest is $799 at Neiman Marcus online and the Amelie Mirrored Nightstand is $629.90 at Neiman Marcus’s website as well.  I bought both at the Neiman Marcus store in person.  Are there prices that are technically cheaper online?  Yes, but the problem with buying mirrored furniture online is three-fold.

The first problem is you can’t inspect the furniture you buy in person.  This is critical with home decor.  You don’t have a great feel or sense for the depth, size, bulk, presence, and color when ordering online.  This is one reason I like to buy furniture in person vs. buying online.

Another problem with mirrored furniture is it’s very easy to crack during shipping.  It’s heavy and it’s bulky and you know the movers don’t care for it as much as the future buyers would.  Part of the reason mirrored furniture is so fine and elegant is the same reason it’s extremely breakable and you need to use the utmost caution with it.

Third, the shipping costs on mirror furniture are hundreds of dollars.  Sometimes these prices are so high, they become 25% of the total price of the purchase.  So could I have technically got a cheaper price online or paid less on the purchase price?  Yes, but when you add in the shipping costs, it comes to less or roughly the same price just to buy it from Neiman Marcus in person.  The great thing about my local Neiman Marcus is even if they don’t have an item in stock, you can order it through the store and pick it up later.  Fortunately this wasn’t the case for me but it is an option.

This is buying mirrored furniture the smart way 101.  Oh yes, and one more benefit to buying mirrored furniture on-site is you don’t have to wait 1-2 weeks to have it delivered to the home.

That’s my smart buyer’s guide to buying mirrored furniture.  I love to browse around and look at pictures and photos online but when it comes to money time, order at your local retail store and save on mirrored furniture with a huge 20% off discount (maybe more).
