STORY:

I signed up for their free trial period and I went to try to find out what my credit score was.  There was a tab at the top their website that I clicked and it took me to the reports.  The three reports were on there but there was nothing that said yes go ahead and charge me more.  In other words, nothing gave any indication I would be charged this fee – yet I was charged.

I looked on my credit card account and I saw that I had been charged.  Then, I called the company and I got a rep.  She said she needed my credit card number.  Supposedly she was trying to pull it up but couldn’t because no account matched.  Finally she was able to pull it up after I persisted.  She told me the reason I got charged because I ordered the three credit reports and that there was a pop-up window that tells you you will be charged if you want to continue.

She said that there was something that asks if you just want to see the one Experion one or go for three.  I never saw anything that said I would be charged more for getting the three because if I did, I know I wouldn’t have clicked it.  The rep was condescending the whole time and had a fake calm voice.

I cancelled – after the charge of $26.51 was on my credit card.  I did not get a refund.  I’m now worried they will try to charge me again (they’ve done this many times to others) so I’m probably going to cancel my card and get a new one to prevent this from happening.

I ended up telling the rep that I thought it was a scam and that I would be sure to tell everyone I knew that FreeCreditReport is a scam.
