Gatorade Protein Shakes Review, Are They Worth It?

Ahh the wide world of protein shakes. If you run, lift weights, or ever get off your keyboard and want to recovery you might want to have a protein shake for muscle recovery. Recently Gatorade came out with their own protein shakes. Here is my review of the Gatorade Performance Series Protein Recovery Shake.

First of all, and most importantly, the taste is decent. Some people are going to like it. Others will hate it. Most people will accept it. I tried the chocolate Gatorade protein shakes and I thought it was above average. There are also strawberry and vanilla flavors.

Secondly, it’s got everything you need from a good protein shake. 20g of milk protein isolate and 270 calories are good numbers although the 27g of sugar is pretty steep.

What’s also steep is the price. Don’t get me wrong, I love the cans (remember canned Gatorade, that was the best – do they sell canned Gatorade anywhere?) but the price is on the high side at 6 11 ounce cans for $20 or more depending on where you buy it. Whey protein shakes are usually at a premium so it’s hard to find individual servings of cheap protein powder but I think you can do a little bit better in the value department.

All in all, I recommend you try the Gatorade protein shake and see if it works for you. If you like it and don’t mind the extra sugars, then it’s a pretty good infusion for quick muscle recovery.
