You know what really caps off a great home? Rugs. My home has a lot of tile in it because we have small dogs running back and forth inside. This is great for cleaning up dirt and would be dog stains, but it also leaves the place feeling cold and uncozy. So now I’m looking for rugs for the home to try and give my feet a little more warmth and make the home feel a little more cozy.
My ideal rug is ultra soft, yet easy to clean and contains enough padding so that I can lay down and take a brief nap without feeling how hard the floor is in my back. And yes, I do like laying on the floor. Ever since I was little, I liked picking a spot in the corner and just falling alseep or reading. We had to get rid of our carpets because of the dog, but now I’d like to find a happy medium because my bare feet get cold in the winter months.
Target is a place that is really improving in the department of having a nice selection of quality home living stuff so I’m first looking there for home rugs. My favorite pick is the Mohawk Home Shag Starch Woven Rug. Target says it’s tan but it looks more like a champagne color to me. The prices really vary (they go from $14.99 to $249.99) but the best deal looks like the 60×90 for $79.99. The biggest size is 96×120 which doesn’t even come close to double the size of the $80 rug. To me, it makes more sense just to buy two for $160 with a total width times height of 120×180 or 10 foot by 15 foot compared to paying $90 more for an 8 foot by 10 foot.
Reviewers did say this was indeed an off white so that’s good. Also, I liked that people were saying it’s easy to vacuum and goes great against dark floors. This one is a definite winner, but I’ll keep looking to make sure it’s the right rug for the home.
Another choice I admired was the Canopy Framed Border Woven Area Rug from WalMart. Outside of 1 person, this was thought to be a 5 star home rug from people that bought it. It has a brown frame with light coffee cream coloring inside which gives that rich, traditional look I just love. They only had the 60×96 for $89.96 in stock. Someone mentioned that this was ultra soft and vacuumed well. The Canopy Area Rug would work great in my home office.
What eliminates me from a lot of styles is I don’t like complicated designs or a bunch of hodgepodge scribbling and splattering lines going every which way. However, one of my favorite rugs for the home just might be the Balta Chocolate Ripple Rug at Lowes. This one does have a designer feel to it, but it’s plain and easy going. Kind of like chocolate syrup in a gallon of ice cream. The Balta rug has a great dark brown base color for the background and then swirls in lighter, bumpy circles and wavy lines.
